Ahmedabad, Gujarat – In a remarkable stride towards environmental sustainability, the CATCH Foundation, a leading environmental NGO based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has forged a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research - National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI). This collaboration is set to transform a 300-acre land plot in Manesar, Haryana, into a lush urban dense forest, a venture that marks a significant leap in afforestation and environmental conservation efforts.

The project springs from a mutual understanding between the entities, with NSG providing the land on a 5-year contract. The CATCH Foundation, under the leadership of its Founder and Chairman, Bharat Sisodia, brings to the table a rich expertise in the establishment of dense forests across India. With a legacy of planting over 260,000 trees and creating 68 dense forests using the innovative कैच वन संरक्षण प्रणाली (CVSP) methodology—inspired by the Miyawaki technique—the Foundation is well-positioned to lead this ambitious project.

This initiative extends beyond mere tree planting; it is about nurturing growth and ensuring the sustainability of these green spaces. The CATCH Foundation is at the forefront of mobilizing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from leading corporations to finance this noble endeavor, demonstrating a collaborative approach to environmental stewardship.

The partnership is further enhanced by the inclusion of CSIR-NEERI, which provides vital impact assessment support. With a focus on evaluating the environmental benefits of urban dense forests, particularly in carbon sequestration, NEERI’s involvement ensures the project's alignment with global environmental standards and its significant contribution to the reduction of carbon footprints.

The strategic planning for this extensive green project was discussed in a meeting with DG Shri M A Ganapathy, involving Mr. Bharat Sisodia and the CSR Coordinator team from the CATCH Foundation. The meeting underscored the commitment to a detailed execution plan and long-term strategy for the initiative.

Dr. Lalsingh, Dr. Amit Bansiwal, and Dr. Rajesh Biniwale, senior principal scientists at CSIR-NEERI, have been instrumental in the project's conception and will continue to lend their expertise and relentless effort towards its success. Their dedication and scientific acumen are pivotal in shaping the initiative’s outcomes.

This collaboration between NSG, CATCH Foundation, and CSIR-NEERI embodies a shared vision for a greener, more sustainable India. By setting a precedent with this urban dense forest project, the partners aim to inspire similar environmental initiatives nationwide, fostering a culture of sustainability and contributing to the global effort to combat climate change.
