Introduction

Nestled in the heart of Gujarat, Ghoda village in Ankleshwar is a testament to the beauty of nature coexisting with urban life. Maintaining green spaces has grown more difficult but necessary as urban sprawl increases. The CATCH Foundation's dedication to community development and environmental conservation has recently led to a stunning shift in Ghoda village’s landscape.

The Initial Landscape

In March 2023, the land at Ghoda village was a barren and neglected expanse. The soil was dry, the vegetation sparse, and the area was far from the vibrant green space it has become today. The first photo, taken on January 21, 2024, showcases this desolate state. The only activity seen is the JCB machine clearing the land, setting the stage for the transformation.

The main task was to transform this dry landscape into a flourishing green area. The CATCH Foundation took on the task, mobilizing resources and community members to turn this vision into reality. The initial efforts focused on soil preparation and planting native trees and shrubs that would be resilient to the local climate and soil conditions.

A Prosperous Land

By June 2024, the wasteland has transformed into a healthy paradise. The remarkable changes shot on June 25, 2024. Thanks to the community's and the CATCH Foundation's loving care, the region is now flourishing with green vegetation. At the location more than 10,800 trees have been planted, representing an important milestone in urban greening and reforestation.

This change involved more than just planting trees—it also involved encouraging a sense of environmental responsibility and communal ownership. The vegetation was guaranteed to survive and develop through community-led initiatives, regular care, and watering schedules. The project's other main goal was to create local awareness of the value of green spaces and how they improve the standard of living in cities.
